In Kirtipur, Kathmandu, there is a public university called Tribhuvan University. TU was the first university in Nepal to be established in 1959. It is the world's twelfth-largest university by enrollment. The college provides 2,000 postgraduate and 2,079 undergraduate programmes in a variety of subject areas.

Tribhuvan University is an independent, non-profit organisation supported by the Nepalese government. Primarily, the Nepali government decided on January 8, 2013, to designate Tribhuvan University as the Central University. The first national university in Nepal was founded in 1959 and is known as Tribhuvan University (TU). Following the second democratic movement in 2006, the Minister of Education serves as the Pro-Chancellor and the Prime Minister of Nepal is the ceremonial leader and university Chancellor. The university's chief executive is the vice chancellor. As one of the biggest universities in the world in terms of both programme diversity and size, Tribhuvan University has been able to meet the needs of a sizable student body.

The student union strives to find solutions for issues that affect all students, regardless of which party wins by endorsing its platform.
